Does it take the seeds a long time to mature? I've raised saintpaulia (my fav gesneriad) from seed and the pods had to remain on the mother plant for six to nine months...according to instructions of the time... my plant was overwatered...root rot...and I had to take the seed pods at four months. I still got a number of plants...but nothing new to brag about, alas.

This is what is known as a Peloric flower, in other words it's a freak. It has a stigma but no stamens so the only way to cross pollinate is with another plant with stamens containing pollen. As an experiment I have crossed this with Cinthya. Fingers crossed for something unusual next year.
