Our "Datcha"

As I mentioned in my first post and intro we have just bought a datcha..or weekend house if you want to call it that, in fact we only got the keys for it this afternoon, and when I took the photo it was the first bit of sun that we have had for a few days. The reason for buying the place was that I have a house (where we also live)with tennants living in the flats, and at weekends they can get on our nerves with stupid questions etc etc, so now we have a place where we can go and hide at the weekends. More photos of the place and garden will follow when we get better weather.

I know how you feel about the tenants, it does get on my nerves because it seems as if every time I'm off work and wanting to work outside, they're always around bugging me about something, or complaining about something trivial when I'm out mowing grass in 95 degree heat. Wish I had a place to hide; usually I just wind up going indoors.

Hi Terratoonie. Thanks for taking time and replying to my message.
Yes, it is a bit of the beaten track, although very easy to get there with the car or walking. As I am holiday this week I was up early, althought I am always up early holiday or not and I walked down there at about 7.30 AM. (my wife had already gone to work) The sun was shining and even at the time in morning I found it warm. After I had opened up, opened the shutters etc I put the kettle on and made myself a cup of coffee, sat on the patio and enjoyed that watching and listening to the birds for about half an hour before I started pottering about, I always find something do do down there. Upto now I have only seen the positive side of the place but no doubt negative things will appear in time.
Have a nice weekend. Rogi.

Yes, I would LOVE a datcha! I've always fancied a log cabin up in the hills of Perthshire....it'll never happen though...well, at least not until our two grown-up children have made it through uny! ...ah...dreaming of peace, quiet, hills, streams, wild flowers........ah!

Hi Karensusan, I have the peace and quiet, hills we have as well, but we have no stream....maybe I should make one somehow.

Oooh, yes, thats a great idea Roger....a rill running down from the woodland slope and being re-cycled back up by a pump....the birds would love it, and just imagine sitting there with the sound of running water as well!! That could be your spring-time task!! ;))
