My little African Tulip tree just started blooming 4 days ago. Now it's time to sell it. Anyone want to buy it? : > ) Photo taken August 14, 2010.

I'd buy it, but it would be like sending a puppy to a medical lab. Too hot in the summer, and too cold in the winter here. Otherwise, it would be one of my favorites, too!

African Tulip trees can tolerate extremely hot temps...not the desert dry air though. They wouldn't do well in high winds either...as their wood is brittle.

And we do get the wind, some months! Thanks for the info about the dry air. I was blaming the heat when I tried one 20 years ago, but it could easily been simple dessication.

Rbtkew is the person who works at Kew gardens. I would think they may have a tree or two already. : > )

Wow! I've always wanted to go to Kew. I've been to Europe several times...however, never been fortunate enough to make it to England.

I had to say good bye to this plant today (August 18, 2010). It was sold to someone in San Diego County.
