Pennisetum rubrum is not totally frost hardy in the UK, Tommy. If this is being currently grown in Norfolk, or anywhere in the UK, would be best in a large pot, so that it can be placed in a frost-free shed or garage over winter. Happy to oblige with the ID, sorry about this follow-up info. :-(

david i got this as well and just put in garden thinking it hardy do i dig it up again or wrap it up
