An essential but highly delicate process that has to be done every five years or so. it has been known for water in the bilges of some of the larger canal barges to shift during the lifting process and cause the boat to tip and on one famous occasion actually come loose from the various chains and ropes and crash to the grownd. the boat in question was totally smashed to pieces.

Well caught yes a lot of maintainence which people don't realise when buying how much it realy cost with mooring and keeping it in tip top condition, what a shame about the other boat smashed to peices.
