Thanks everyone for your comments. I will be repotting these up into Ericascious soil. This helps to keep blue ones Blue and white ones white instead of them turning pale pink.

That's a good tip Linsuffolk. We were at the garden centre today to get some potting compost and I saw labels with Ericascious soil and wondered what it was used for. Now I know! Brilliant as I've plans to buy a hydrangea and would choose by colour of bloom. Oh...just re-read your reply and notice you don't recommend the Ericascious soil for pink blooms....back to the drawing board. I am rather partial to pink.

I have quite a few pink ones Whistonlass, that I have had about 6/7 years and they are fine in ordinary compost or garden soil . It is mainly the blue ones and the white as they tend to turn pale pink, so I am repotting the new ones in the Ericascious soil. There are so many different varieties of Hydrangeas now where the bloom is totally different.

They are lovely. If you keep them in the pots will they stay small or will you have to plant them out?

These need to go either into a large tub or planted in the ground. They don't do very well left in pots of that size. I have got about 8 in large tubs and they are doing quite well. Thanks for your comment Daisyco and glad you like them...... :o))

Lin...could you put up a photo of your large tubs....just wondering about the size and I'd like to see how they look. Ta.

I will do that tomorrow Whistonlass , as its now 10.30pm so you can see them and also measure it so as you know roughly what to get. How big are your plants now?

How beautiful.I have not grown them yet but someone told me that the colour depends upon the ph level of the soil.Is it right?
