Delonix - do the flowers fade, or can it throw out different coloured blooms?

Meanie:

Meanie:

Yes, it does...also it has serpentine-like trunks.

Very pretty. Another species that is supposed to grow here, but that I never see.

Tugbrethil:

That's surprising! I would think it would do very well in the hot desert.

A lot of publications for the desert recommend it, too, but none of the local or even national growers grow it!

Tugbrethil:

That's a shame! I wonder why?

It keeps me scratching my head. Just try and find Beschorneria! A lot of things that do well here and used to be available are hard to find now, too. Things like Popcorn Cassia (Senna didymobotrya) and Jungle Daffodil (Eucharis grandiflora) might as well not exist, as far as the growers are concerned. For the most part, our local growers are an unimaginative lot, but there are a few that actively seek out new things to grow. Makes it hard to go to the garden center and find what you want, and mail order from the web tends to arrive dead in our climate. Ah, well, life goes on!

Tugbrethil:

I guess we're lucky here in San Diego - there's still a lot of specialty nurseries.
