The pears were thinned this year. Too large a crop on limiting root stock is not good. Small pears or no pears the following year.

They are even bigger now there has been a bit more rain. They get heavy for the spur stem they are growing on. I have had one from the nearer pear....could have been more tasty, as not fully ripe. difficult to judge just when to pick before they drop. All those little criitters waiting to munch when they hit the deck!!

Wonderful shape....the pears that we get here are almost round shaped.
