Tugbrethil:
I like this small shrub. Calliandra alway reminds of winter here...as most species bloom in winter.

The native pink Fairyduster grows in the summer, but forms flower buds in the fall. In the wild, it waits until after the winter rains to bloom, but in cultivation, it also blooms in the fall. I especially like the hybrids between the two species, 'cause they bloom all the time, and don't try to obscur the house like the Baja Fairyduster sometimes does.

Tugbrethil:
Calliandra haematocephala, eriophylla, tweedii and surinamensis are very widely grown here and bloom in winter. : >)

That's one of the landscaping staples, here, and hummingbirds love it!
