It seems to be a succulent of some sort. I got it for 25p from the alpine section of a nursery.

I have that one, Delosperma Cooperi, and I've had to grow it in a pot on my kitchen window sill, because when planted outdoors,all the flowers and stalks got eaten by something.

Both Delosperma and Drosanthemum look rather similar to these...
