Alocasia 'Sarian'

Alocasia 'Sarian' (Alocasia 'Sarian')

I gave my friend an Alocasia 'Sarian' (a baby from my plant) last summer. It was only about 5 inches/ 13cm tall (no kidding) and now it's 6 feet/ 2 meters tall. I'm so envious!!!

Mushybanna:

I have many. I do have one growing in the front yard. It has only put out on leaf this summer. I have some others in a pot...they seem to be growing better with more sun. I'll post some pics soon.

Alocasia 'Sarian' is a really beautiful hybrid.

Which plants are it's parents?

Lori:

If you look at the photo listed: "Coleus 'Amour' and Phoenix roebelenii - Pygmy Date Palms" in the last five photos I've posted. You'll see a small leaf 1 foot tall Alocasia 'Sarian' to the left of the Pygmy date palm...that's the parent plant. It has not done well in my front yard at all. : > (

my sympathy to you D1... I was referring to it's genetic parents...what two varieties of Alocasia produced Sarian? or was it Colocasia x alocasia...or Xanthosoma x colocasia...etc. etc.? lol...

Lori:

Sorry, I mis-understood the question! The parents from what I've read are: Alocasia zebrina x Alocasia micholitziana. : >)

Lori:

I did the research on Alocasia 'Sarian' 4 years ago when I purchased my original plant.

I'm going to look for an A. "Sarian"...to grow with my Colocasia. Next spring I'm going to look in the produce section of a local specialty grocer for the colo corms. Will try to make up in abundance what may be lacking in plant size!

Lori:

I originally purchased my Alocasia 'Sarian' on-line at this nursery. Maybe he still sells them.
