We normaly spend the night in the conservatory or Ella's bedroom for the views of everyones fireworks! We can see displays 10 miles away from the back of the house, the kids used to be gobsmacked when they were little + can you tell I love it too x

Wow, of course, with your position you would have a fab view! There was a spectacular firework display in Dundee from the Tay Rail bridge, which we had a great view of from our old house. That was amazing. Every year the Coastguards in Carnoustie put on a brilliant display at the beach. It is quite a local ritual. Everyone meets near our house at the park and there is a pipe band and the townspeople pay to have a lit torch and we all parade behind the lit torches down to the beach (about a mile) led by the pipers and drummers and then the bonfire is lit by all the torches being cast into it and after that the fireworks.....it's a brilliant evening, not to be missed. Dundee also have two spectacular organised displays in the West and East of the city and we used to go, but not when Callum was small....he was really frightened of them...the noise!

Jamie was the same when he was very small. It all sounds very romantic, fireworks on the beach :-)))))

Don't know about romantic, but it is quite something! The Guys they put on the bonfire look a bit too realistic for my liking sometimes and there is definitely a 'small town ritualistic' atmosphere. I make a joke that they put the 'incomers' on the bonfire every year!! They are a bit like that in Carnoustie you know, don't much care for people moving in to the town!!

You have been there a while, how long till you feel safe...50 years + ? Lol

Second generation I think Ann!! We've been here coming up for five years now, but we are 'extra-vulnerable' because we live on the 'new estate' which used to be the potato farm! Shocking! I don't think I want to live here for ever though, I'm not a fan of small towns generally having grown up in one. I think I would ideally like to be in a small village or a big city. Either extreme is good for me, but small town......not my bag. Will probably stay until Scott retires and then hopefully find our 'for ever' place.

I would like to move back to a village eventualy....an Italian village would be ideal. Lol

Lol! I have only been to italy three times, once to Venice for a day while holidaying in Yugoslavia; once on a camping holiday to Lake Garda (stunning) and this March to Rome. I would love to go there again many times, it is probably the most beautiful country in the world I think...beautiful weather, beautiful scenery, architecture, art, food, music and people too! I also love Cyprus and was saying to Scott yesterday that the ideal thing would be to live in Cyprus from October to March and then come home for the spring and summer!

I agree on Italy but have never been to Cyprus (would like to go) I also love the Greek Islands :-))

No Dragons Karen, but there are lots of monster Dragon flies, I duck when I see them coming! There are lots of frogs and some very big toads under the shrubs, they come from the pond in the field behind the house :-)))
