I think these fish will be white ...they're slower to turn colour than the solid red ones.

Very pretty fish! Can these koi stay outside in winter?

Yes the ancestors of my three large ones were out four winters before the disaster of a late (March) snow storm in which we received 59 inches of snow sealed off the pond and I lost the sixty or so (I started with six) fishies in the depths of my pond. They suffocated. I hadn't had the bubbler working and the spring cleanup after that disaster was traumatic., They will survive here as long as there is a pocket in the pond which is below the level of frost penetration. Where I live it's 4 feet!

That's why we REALLY appreciate spring! It always amazes me that the plants are in totally frozen earth ...and as soon as the sun's angle changes and the sun is warm again...the life returns. It's miraculous...and it's also nice to have 4 distinct seasons.

Oh I missed the mention of koi... sorry. My fish are just plain carp...but I love their lovely roundness and the beautiful almost red colouring...have a pure white fish...and and red and white one...and a solid deep red one. Not all the fry are coloured yet...still have five or so...who are still black and I'm hoping that they will be white. It's getting down into the single digits at night now...so will be bringing the fish in soon. I've had to buy an extra aq...the largest of the carp is about 8 inches long...so I need a 50 gallon tank. will have to look at the specialty stores in Ottawa for that.
