Is it a type of dogwood, coloured bark variety such as Cornus sibirica. The stems aren't visible but my Cornus has flowers that look like this.

Thanks Chrispook, this shrub came with the birds...or somesuch. Nice when things happen like that. Think I will try taking some cuttings and starts some for my front garden...winter colour.

Red stems would make me think dogwood too. The one I have has variegated leaves and came from our garden center, but this looks like our native Red Osier Dogwood (Cornus sericea ).

I thought that dogwood flowers were much larger...like the B.C. emblem...completely forgot about the osier...thankyou both, very much.
