If you look closely you can see the white flower in the middle of the water lily. Photo taken in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. on Sept. 18, 2010.

It will die back in Dec or early Jan depending on the weather...then re-grow in spring again. This water lily can only stay evergreen in the tropics.

great pic...i suppose these stay outside all year? we only have then at underoer heated botanic gardens oer here...i think they are amazing...:-)
