The main house

I'm hoping to make nice shrub borders framing the house. We also hope to paint the ground floor concrete areas, and remove the 'prison' bars - should get a great view from the study. Perhaps, cash, structure and design balance allowing, we may make the front a bay with French doors leading out onto the decking. The problem with the ground floor in Hakone is the damp and therefore mould. We have a large dehumidifier on permanently, and the more light we get in the better. The air has improved greatly though in just two weeks.

I don't think of Japan as being a damp country. It will be fun to see how your plans develop and whether you can install a front bay with french doors to decking. Budget is always one restriction we can't do much about....wishing you dreams come true for your landscaping dreams.
