I buy mine as plants Helen. I love them all, the taller ones need a bit of support so they dont flop too far. Aster 'lateriflorus Horizontalis' is lovely with its tiny flowers, but for more colour impact I love Aster novi-belgii Island 'Tonga' and Aster crown. I am looking for some more good time to buy as you can see the colour.

oh so you buy them just now rather than spring? do i just plant them right away and do they need any protection over winter? sorry for asking so many questions!!!

It depends weather you buy 'plug plants' or larger plants Helen. I buy larger plants so I can see if I like the colour. If buying plug plants spring may well be better?
