OH thought it might be some type of Magnolia, but the flowers are lily type, most attractive have never come across it before, good luck with the naming.

Found it, hate to be beaten Louis......Chorisia speciosa, Kapok Tree or Floss-Silk Tree is a deciduous tree native to Argentina and Brazil. In nature, the tree will reach about 15 meters tall with a spread of about 9 meters, however trees in cultivation may be taller. The light green leaves will reach 12.7 cm long ,it also grows in Spain, a beauty Louis, you can buy seeds!!!

You are both right, I have just googled it, in the Bauhinia Blakeana page, it had the flower too, but the name was not right...well done!

Thank you so very much ladies, and yes, I have googled it and that's the one. I like the trunk as it has like limpets, little spikes which is very unusual indeed. I have seen them in Gibraltar as well, and when I go in December, I am going to find out about buying some seeds ...... Shame I cannot find a tree to buy, mind you, they are most expensive.............
Thanks again ladies most appreciated .......... :-)

Louis:
This tree is very widely grown here in California. It was re-classified a few years ago to Ceiba speciosa (fka: Chorisia speciosa)
