You can't really go wrong with Polish Spirit. It is type 3 pruning too...cut it hard back, almost to the ground in Late winter and it will regrow from under the ground. I usually cut mine back earlier and it never seems to do any harm. I don't like to have to look at the bare twiggy vines all winter, so I cut them back in the autumn, once they finish flowering. (Mine is in full flourish at the mo and it will probably continue until the frosts beat it into submission!) Not what the books say, but it works for me!
