The clearing of the property between my house and the landlord gave me a clear area to step back and get a nice shot of the the gate, lower garden, and the front all at once. Took a beam of sunlight to inspire me.

Thank you. Coming along, bigger and brighter each year. :-)
This garden wont see the sunlight for a few months but in the city the sun is up about four hours in the deep winter. It will be light but I wont have that direct sunlight.

Oh thank you! I was so pleased to find a spot to get a shot of most of the garden in one, I haven't done that before. Just a bed or two every year, but it is sure growing. There are a few new perennial beds started this fall that will be filling up next year, creating a front garden as well beneath my new shrubs. I've been labeled the Hansel and Gretel house this year......lol....by the neighbors.

At least you get some daylight then. Just cold as hell??
16 Oct, 2010
The sky gets to a pale frosty blue above the trees and -40 rises to -25. Then dimmer, dimmer and dark and cold again. :-) If you can say it warmed up at all. lol. These north faces are hard because you know the sun is just over there, but you wont see it unless you go out and find it. That is hardest for me, well, if I didn't have a 400watt high pressure sodium lamp lighting the house from 6am to 10pm. :-) Perfect little microclimate.

Complete with the sunny mist....lol. Thank you San. Little secret garden however open it really is. I've added shrubs and beds about the front yard this autumn for more next year. This will all become the lower garden. :-)

24 Oct, 2010
Thank you. :-) The lamp is sun up at 630 sundown at 10. Keeps me feeling more normal in those dark days as well as keeping the indoor plants content.
