Thankyou Michaella and thankyou Jacquie, yes the houseleeks have done really well since I planted them, and I have taken some from them aswell and re-planted them in different areas and tubs.

lovely rockery - the alpine bottom left is much bigger than the one we have - I think they are superb , a little unique to me - when I planted it though I broke a lot of it off :(
We have one near the pond

Lins...I was looking on your page to see if you had blogged about your rockery construction but alas you haven't done any blogs.
I am considering a rockery in one area of our garden but without a wall or enclosure. Your rockery looks so beautiful and must look so nice with your solar lights. My idea is to have a rockery feature in one corner of the garden which would also incorporate a very small water feature.
Have you got any hints for me?

Hi Jacquie, Thanks for your lovely comments. so pleased you like my rockery. Lovely to hear you are thinking of doing one. When you decide where you are putting it, just try building up your soil to the height and width you want and if you have any old bits of concrete or rock that you could bury under the soil to help the drainage, and place your rocks as you go and it will soon start taking shape. Once it starts to take shape, you will see how easy it is and just rearrange any rocks that you are not sure of.I lost count of how many times I have moved mine around. Hope this helps you a little, but honest Jacquie you will be surprised how quick it starts ot take shape. You may not think much at first, but once the plants start to go in, things look totally different. Good luck anyway. When are you thinking of starting it? Looking forward to seeing how things go. If you want any more info , just get in touch., I'll be only too happy to help if I can ....Lin

Thanks for your comments, Lin. We are having the hard landscaping put in the week of 6th December and we were to have turf laid in the central part of the garden but we now are going to wait until spring to have the turf laid. It will depend on how the landscaper does the borders (and when).
It may be we will have to wait until spring to put the rockery in...dependent of course on the weather in December. I'd love to be able to do it in Dec. but we shall have to wait and see how things progress.
Thanks for your offer of advice/information. I'll make a note of that and you probably will hear from me...I'm very new to all of this gardening! lol As I keep saying I'm 'green' about all of this and won't know until I start if I've got 'green fingers'.... :)
