Glad you like it Nannymargaret! They seem to survive here OK - I have some white ones on a very steep bank that have been in for a couple of years.
According to this article I found they're OK down to -15 C

They do love to be crowded and squashed together, like agapanthus.

They grow from bulbs Nannymargaret. Buy them in spring and plant in a sunny well-drained spot - not too fertile. Treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen! They may take some time to get going, flowering-wise and like to be crammed together with a good baking in summer.
