Firewheel tree is very popular and widely grown here. It blooms from fall - early spring. This Queensland, Australian native is only a moderate grower...however, the flower are worth it. Photo taken Oct. 26, 2010.

Thanks! Yes, it's in the Proteaceae (Protea) family.
Grevillea is in the same family.
