A lovely example of the Erythrina family Delonix!

Meanie:

There's so many species of Erythrina which grow here. It's not difficult to find good blooming specimens...it's just difficult trying to get a good photo.

As long as my E.crista-galli flowers next year I don't mind!

Meanie:

Do you know if your E. crista-galli is cutting-grown? It will bloom sooner, if so.

The large E. crista-galli around the corner from me is blooming right now. It's amazing it's blooming after the huge butcher job that was done to this tree about a month ago or so.

I'm afraid that I don't know Delonix.....

Great photo and lovely colour bloom :o))))

Meanie:

Hopefully, it is...as it can take many, many years to bloom if grown from seed.

I'm pretty sure that it would have bloomed had it not been for the spider mite attack this year - the trunk is about 60mm in diameter at the base.

Meanie:

Erythrina species tend to have large to gigantic trunks. E. crista-galli is one which has a very large trunk. The tree around the corner from me has a trunk circumference of probably more than 3 feet/1 meter.

Also, Erythrina must have full, hot sun most of the day to bloom.
