Smashing colour .. well photographed :o)

I have one and it is hardy, but the frost has already knocked it back this year.

so far so good here ~ how big do they grow?

Well mine is only about 18 inches I would think. Probably depends on the soil.

I had one in my previous garden. it got killed back to the ground every year, but always re-grew into a nice bush :o) It was always full of bees buzzing around it too .

didnt have bees on mine but glad to hear they survive

is this fuchsia Lottie Hobby? with tiny flowers and leaves. If it is I have one about 18 inches tall, it looks very much like it. it is hardy but I move mine into the greenhouse over winter, where it carries on flowering right through to february. I believe it is quite a rare variety. but everyone that sees it wants a cutting

i found the label ~ its 'reflexa' but it isnt very tall at all! only about 12" off the ground ~ seems to be the horizontal sort? but looks more like that cos i have it frowing on a slope?

if you send me a cutting in the spring I will send you one of lottie hobby which is similiar, may even be the same as sometimes you see fuchsias sold under different names even though they are the same. This year some centres were selling one called eruption, and others were selling the same fuchsia as explosion. would be interesting to see if our fuchsias are the same

yes it would ~ great idea! i will have to get practising to take cuttings!

I will post a pic of lottie hobby. It is so like yours but it is an upright fuchsia. will take a pic of it this week.

hi sixpence, no the fuchia you are thinking of is procumbens which grows on the hillsides in new zealand.this plant is endangered in the wild. It is very unusual in that the flowers
face upwards and they have blue pollen. they don't look great in pots but they are good for trailing from hanging baskets

No I did nt think it was when I looked against your flower, yours is more vivid colour, I had this one it died last year with the cold but then I had it in a pot, so my own fault, yet there are still not hardy ones in pots now not died baffles me.
