This is a snapshot of a venerable old Satsuki I found deep in the woods behind Shadowlands. The flank of the boar is top left.

Yes, Satsuki is a type of azalea, prized in Bonsai-growing circles. Of course there are thousands of varieties of azaleas, including Tsutsugi, used practically everywhere for town planting and office planting because it is drought resistance, evergreen, and flowers with a riot of bright flowers in April/May. This appears to be a wild one, so who knows the variety? Will have to see if it ever flowers, but I think it must be at least 50 years old, probably nearly 70, which is pretty good for a shrub.

Just a bit of clarification needed please. Is Satsuki the name of the bush? Google tells me it could be a type of azalea.
