Beautiful large fruit of the persimmon on this large healthy tree. There were several varieties of persimmon in the gardens

A pity the one I planted here has very yellow leaves and a single fruit the size of a walnut!
Maybe it will grow one day!

would it do any better if you moved it to a different part of the garden.

Maybe, Yorkshire. We are on a south facing slope, but also a frost pocket. Low down means richer and deeper soil, but colder and more moisture, higher up means shallower soil, but a bit warmer. We are on very limy, clay based soil... perhaps persimmons don't like that. Maybe we should water with Epsom salts or sulphur?
