A Peacock In My Garden

A Peacock In My Garden

On the outskirts of Birmingham, less than a mile from Barr Beacon/Sutton Park.
He hung around for ages, RSPB/RSPCA chap said it was not unnatural for one of these to be in your garden nowadays....at this point I thought it safe to mention the womble I'd seen a couple of days earlier, at which point he must have accidently dropped the phone onto the receiver.

Sorry Kev, but what is a womble?

Overground, underground wombling free ?
No ?
In the 70's, in the UK there were a mythical group of creatures that lived on Wimbledon Common. They used to busy themselves going about collecting litter, and generally moaning about stuff, I think.
They had a big Christmas hit at some point too, 'A Wombling Merry Christmas' or something.

Try 'The Wombles' on WWW.GOOGLE.COM

I had 'Uncle Bulgaria' as a stuffed toy when I was little, but they were just a little before my time.

But I still see them, though from the rubbish in my garden, you'd beg to differ !

Thanks for the clarification! Sorry that I missed these creatures, being over here on the other side of the pond. Not only did I google them, but thoroughly enjoyed their song on YouTube!! Adorable creatures and years ahead of their time in the 70s,eh? Reduce, reuse, recycle has been part of my life for forever, but I could definitely use a couple in my yard too....

When humankind fails, and all else is lost.

There'll always be the wombles, wombling away to their hearts' content.

When we wipe ourselves off the face of this earth, they'll be wombling away.

Cue 'The Wombles Song'..........................:-)

I grew up in Canada but wombles were imported by rellies on the otherside of the pond. Thanks for the memories.
