clearing the plot

I have managed to acquire a little more of the garden to grow vegetables next year and am in the process of clearing the old lawn. When I knew the lawn had to go we had a great bonfire on the 5th November, lifting the turf in the burnt area is much easier than where it's still green

Thankyou. I grew peas, runner beans and rocket this year in the small patch that you can see to the left of the photo (still the last of the rocket left). All of them were fairly successful so I kept some seeds and will be planting them in this plot. I also grew some red onions from sets on a small piece of garden, they weren’t so successful because I only ended up with small onions but they taste fine. I have some seed heads from the red onions but can’t decide if onion seeds are worth bothering with or not.

i plant onion seeds & start them off in greenhouse,we had runner beans ,peas & green beans on our plot & got a good crop from them, we had a lot of veg eaten by slugs but i wont use pellets & as yet havent found anything else that works..i did not keep any seeds from veg this year but i think i will next year ..:o)

We've grown a dual purpose red skinned onion from seed, can be used as a salad onion from June to October, or lifted August, and stored as mature bulbs...
