Phalaenopsis behaving strangely

This Phal was in bloom for much of the summer when suddenly it stopped forming flowers and formed a kieki on the flower stem instead!

A few of my orchids have put kiekis out, but this is the first one that I've seen on a flower stem.

Not sure I'd say lucky, it's a little freaky!
I don't separate them on the Phals, only on the Dendrobiums. I'm happy to let the Phals bush out.

You could try tying it to a piece of bark- still attached to the plant- it should root and grow as an epiphyte. Think of it as a challenge!

How about tying it to some sphag moss as that would make the plant less unstable?

Ooh, fascinating, a baby orchid. Never seen this before. Apparently you can twist them off when they develop roots....
