Palmate:
Yes, they are young...however, they're more than 10ft/3m. The Elephant ears are about the same size. Unfortunately, I didn't have anything for scale.

Good glory, Delonix! I had no idea Elephant's Ears could get that big. I am, however, more familiar with Colocasia.

Tugbrethil:
I guess you haven't seen Alocasia robusta or A. 'Borneo Giant'...these have the largest entire leaf of any plant in the Plant kingdom.

Now I've got to look those up, too! There's no cure for curiosity on your entries, Delonix! : D

You'll be surprised to see how large the leaves grow on Alocasia robusta. I've read the leaf can grow to more than 25 ft/ 8m. long. (not including the petiole)

says it all, even though it must be just a lil' un! Probably won't grow where I am, but you may have seen a few in person.

Tugbrethil:
Haven't seen any Alocasia robusta 'Sarawak'...however, I'm sure someone in San Diego must be growing one. It seems to tolerate fairly dry soil. I've seen several Alocasia 'Borneo Giant' growing here though. I've even posted photos of some on GoY.
