Upright shrub to eight feet. Will grow in dry soils in full sun. The bristly woody stems are rather brittle so either grow it away from strong winds or train it against a wall or fence. Any pruning should be done in late summer or autumn as the cuts will bleed if done earlier in the growing season

There are a lot of trees like this growing in our area. Obviously we have the right conditions, dry and sunny.
