Despite it's name, this is a female variety! Somebody had a wicked sense of humour. Bought it yesterday in 50% GC sale.

I always said I wouldn't have Holly in my garden, my lovely old Nan had one and the times I pricked my fingers when gathering up fallen leaves. Ouch!! This variety shouldn't be too sharp, fingers crossed.

I remember lots of the leaves were smoothe :o)

This is a totally kind hollyShirley, no prickles. I made mine into a lollipop tree last year so I can underplant. I never have many berries, but the leaves, especially the new ones, are a lovely colour:-)

That's interesting, Ba, do you have a photo of it?

If you look at my blog 12th July Makeover part 2, think 7th pic down 'overview from window' towards top left there's a birdtable, then left of that lollipop holly. I would put a better pic on, but for some reason i can't upload any. I'll have to fix it somehow:-)

Found it on pic 8 ... it's a handsome specimen! Thanks for showing me that. With all the rain we're having there's no need for me to water the new plants in. : o ((( Regarding uploading pics ... I have to crop mine to get them to take on here!

I can upload pics again, so I've put on a better pic for you although it doesn't show it off. It often has all yellow leaves which look gorgeous:-)

Ah, this comment has answered the question I've just asked on the new pic! Thanks so much for putting it on.
