All the beehive gingers are commonly named shampoo ginger as you can squeeze their cones and you will get a soapy liquid to wash your hair with , this is practiced in some of the pacific islands ,so much cheaper than buying shampoo and I would say most likely better than a bought shampoo.
Another natural shampoo is Alovera succulent ,you use the jelly from under the outside skin from the leaves , use this gel as your shampoo . leaves hair silky soft and shiny
Will also cure dry scaly scalps if you rub the gel into you scalp every day and let it dry . shampoo after 3 days . good for baby's cradle cap.
Its also used as a drink , so you cannot cause any harm from it .
Its gel is extra good to use on burns of all kinds. And its easy to grow .

Pitta:

I'm very familiar with the beehive (shampoo) gingers. I'm from Honolulu, Hawai'i, where they are very widely grown. I've never used one for shampoo...I think I would like to try it one day though. :>)
