Anthurium andraeanum - Red Anthurium

Wow, so shinny. They look like plastic. Good job, I had one of these.....I have no idea how I killed it.

I've grown Anthuriums for years. I water my Anthuriums with captured rain water. This helps them prevent brown-tipping.

Did you grow your Anthuriums in full sun? They will not tolerate full sun. Semi-shade to shady conditions are the best for them outside. Inside the house they need high humidity or they can die of desiccation, due to the dry house air.

Deonix, I was growing this plant indoors. I really have no idea what happened.

Most likely damage from low humidity. Or it can be high level of minerals and salt in the water...do you have hard water?

High levels of salt sounds right.

My Anthuriums would only live 3 or 4 year then die from hard water damage. Now, I only use reclaimed bottled water or rain water. This has make them live longer...they also look so much healthier, no brown-tipping.

I do love this plant, mine has doubled in size since I first had it, not many flowers on it at the moment though.

It loves bright light, humidity and warm temps...although not the very high temps you read about in most books.

Will move it and hope to get more flowers.

I think Anthuriums like regular light feedings. Although, mine never get any fertilizer. I'm guessing, I would have much larger flower bracts if I fertilized.
