When they're ripe they will turn bright red...however, it doesn't smell like "Coffee" until the seeds are roasted. I eat the coffee cherries...they are sweet and taste nothing like coffee. :>)

Wow Really interesting. I never knew they looked like that at all! Am really surprised. And you eat the coffee cherries too!

Yes, when they're red you can eat the coffee cherries.
