The more stately ones at the front-right are Galanthus Atkinsii. Now that the wind is increasing I see that one has already lost its head :-(.

Amazing. Im envious especially as you are in Scotland and I'm in the Midlands yet yours are way ahead of mine :-)

thats very strange dawnsaunt, im midlands and mine are out ~ perhaps it depends if they are in a sheltered spot or exposed?

Ours really started about a week ago. I was attracted to this group this morning because of the thin layer of snow around them. These are growing in an open situation but on the north side of a hedge so they don't get any direct sunlight at all.

Hello Sticki, glad yours are flowering. We're usually a bit behind most people, we live in a low area, a frost pocket, with our brook running thro.

lovely to have a brook, even if it possibly delays your snowdrops it surely has other advantages?
i dont know why yours are later ~ can you explain bulbaholic?

The snowdrops arent near the the brook but generally we are in a cold spot. The brook is nice, the sound is lovely and handy to fill the watering can and to get in and wash our wellies.

OK, in Leicestershire they don't benefit from the warm, balmy January afternoons with long hours of sunshine and G&Ts on the patio that we do in the north of Scotland. I wish :-))))

great answer!
but you do have amazingly long evenings in the summer ~ ive been on the beach at 10.30 and 11.00 at night on the isle of harris! and its still light enough to see.
did you watch the michael portillo train program tonight?

Lol Bulb. We do have plenty of G&T's if nothing else. One thing the weather doesnt effect.

Scotkat I saw that you had snow again on the news this am. I hope you do not get anymore and that it goes away soon. How is your hunt for snowdrops for your community garden coming along. If we all send you some maybe you could give over a little patch to Goy in Forfar. How many do you reckon you need in total to provide a snowdrop walk. Mine are nowhere near to being a show yet.
