So do I but had them in the past and a lot have died because of the weather here and no where to store for winter.

Yes, the further away from the tropics/subtropics you go the shorter the list of palms you can grow. The list of palms which can grow in San Diego is pretty close to 600 species and growing.
In Palm Canyon (where this photo is taken), there's more than 500 palms planted, representing close to 100 species.
And it's currently being expanded.

We have a very active Southern California Palm Society here. Every year many new species of palms are being introduced. The San Diego Zoo has a really good collection of many thousands...representing more than 300 palm species. The San Diego Zoo also has the second largest collection of cycads in North America.

Would be lovely to see each species in reality, would never of thought there would be that many different kinds.

There's around 3,300 known palm species in the world...however, so many are still being discovered.
