Hi Nana d Thanks for the welcome!
My garden is an odd shape it starts off at 16ft wide then gradually widens out to a point, from house to point is about 40ft. A designed the garden around the odd shape, incorporating curves and circles to help with making the garden look bigger. Cool colors have also helped with the illusion. I would love a bigger garden but to be honest my RA gets in the way some times, so its probably just as well I don't have a bigger patch.

With such a very pretty garden and a lovely view too, you must want to spend all your time out there!

You have created a lovely garden, Teds. I am starting this spring with a blank canvas and find it quite a daunting prospect! How long have you been developing your garden? I think I did read in one of your blogs that you'd lived there for 4 yrs.? You've done wonders from what you say was a mud patch!

I used a computer package to help me design the garden layout. It helped me see what the best shapes would be for my awkward patch.
You could also use some graph paper to mark out your new garden and cut out shapes to scale to give you an idea of what would look best.
I decided I wanted a cottage looking garden as we back on to open countryside. It's best to decide what style you would like; Crocus online can help (http://crocus.co.uk/) , they have planting schemes to order, and pictures of different styles of garden - hope that helps!

All very good suggestions, Teds. Thank you. I have been helped to do a graph drawing by a friend although I still have difficulty getting things down on paper!
I'll take a look at the crocus website for their planting schemes to see if any ideas jump out at me :)

Thanks for the welcome cmsue, I love the photo of Mojo what a lovely dog she must have been. I love the pic of her looking into the river. Its so sad when you have to say good bye to a pet. My 15 year old cat had to leave us last year and like you he is always in are hearts. There is a pic of my yogi he was such a handsome boy:)
