This is just a few of my hellebores, some of my seedlings are coming into flower for the first time this year. Nothing very exciting yet, but who knows :o))

The bed is so much better than this KS, but I cann't seem to get a decent photo. Going down to the left of the pergola is a beautiful patch of pure white ones & a self seeded one in the path.

I know what you mean, it's frustrating that isn't it! I can just imagine it as you describe though Pam. I love it when they are all out, and then the pulmonarias come out as well, and the epimediums and erythroniums and then......you're really in spring! :))

Fantastic area Pam....:>)

Know what you mean Pam I've been trying to take a picture of my snowdrops, the woods full of them, but just doesn't look as good on a photo.
Your hellebores do look pretty though, so many flowers, they seem to love it there.
Noticed my erythroniums poking through this morning Karen, only have 3 and didn't do much last year, hoping they're better this year.

Yes, I saw the new shoots on mine coming too. They are lovely plants, I'm really looking forward to seeing them again! Like you, I only have very small amount. I'm hoping they'll spread in time.

Bought mine a couple of years ago from the little greengrocers on Queensway, you'll know were that is Karen, not something you'd expect to see at a greengrocers, 50p each shame they only had three left, the yellow one, can't remember the name offhand, senior moment again, lol.

I think it's Pagoda Kathy. Does that ring bells? I'm darned if I can remember where Queensway is! I remember the name but not where it is. Of to google it now! I need to come back soon and refresh my memories!

Thats the one:-)
Queensway off Whiteswood Lane near the school? , a few little shops, papershop, co-op, post office, butchers.

Looks fabulous, very green and lush and natural, and yours have so many blooms! I love the moss on the wall and the fern peeking out of the stones.

Thank you all, Lauram the moss & ferns grow profusely here in Cornwall, we get such a lot of wet & damp weather.

I don't have much luck with erythroniums Kathy. Just one large clump of yellow ones grow in this bed. Just realized I might have meant Epimediums.
22 Feb, 2011
lol....took me ages to stop confusing the two, and I probably still do sometimes! Erythroniums are the nodding bell spring bulbs and Epimediums are the spreading evergreens...is that right? :)
22 Feb, 2011
Yes KS I think Erythroniums are Dogs tooth Violet.

Yes, that's right, that's how I remember. The problem is because both flower in spring, both have five syllables, both start E and end ium ....it's a tricky one! :)

Wish mine would spread like that, its taken me years to get them to reappear, one I`ve had donkeys years and its flowering for the first time now.....

Lincslass, are you on acid soil? try liming it...I feed mine with lime every spring.
22 Feb, 2011
These are growing on acid soil.

Bought my first epimediums 2 years ago Pam, love them have 3, two are evergreen but the other disappears completely, first year thought it had died, really thriving in the wood, remember seeing a really gorgeous one on here think it was on Sids pictures with peach flowers.

I saw some yesterday at a plant sale Kathy, but i resisted & bought some other little treasures. The only decent epimedium I have grows at the back of this bed, I think its the more common yellow one.
28 Feb, 2011
Yes two of mine are yellow and a pink one, just going to ask what you bought but just seen your pictures, great choices :-)
I've been good haven't bought any new plants lately:-(, well maybe the odd daylily or 5,lol.

I didn't look at daylilies, could have, a whole table was there but I know he was expensive, so better not to get tempted..... blew the cash on other things :o)

I've just had one delivered today Pam 'Eight Miles High' just hope we have a hot summer as this one is purple with white sharks teeth edge to the petals, stunning, trouble is the teeth won't show so good if the weathers not warm enough.

Ooh, Kathy sounds lovely, keep my fingers crossed for a hot summer :o)) I've just found another Epimedium will post it later.
