SK - some books says it is and others don't mention a scent (I don't have much of a sense of smell anyway).
It's a shrub for light woodland or a more open position where the soil stays moist. This particular species has the largest flowers of the family

It's beautiful. I've always loved the colour of this. Never tried growing it as I think it might be a bit too for north here, although I've seen it in the GC, but they'll sell anything in the GC of course!
