Mount Laguna Snow-Capped!

It so unusual to see the Laguna Mountains with snow at this time of year. A strong arctic front moved down from the Gulf of Alaska into Southern California. It brought almost 3ft/1m of snow to the top of Mount Laguna (in San Diego County) at 6,000 ft/ 1821m this past weekend. The snow level dropped down to around 2,000ft/610m, which is very low for any time in winter. Most likely all this snow will melt in a couple of days. Photo taken Feb. 27, 2011 from El Cajon Valley.

will this mean mud slides, etc.? Great that your water restrictions are lifted, though. Have you been reading any of the info that's on the net about sunspot activity..and solar flares?

No, the mudslides and major flooding was just before Christmas. This snow in the mountains melted 3 days after I took this photo. It's been pretty darn warm here, now. 80's inland...mid - upper 70's along the coast. I have the fans on in my house right now...it's 82ºF/28ºC inside currently.
Yes, the sunspot activity has been on the news the last couple of weeks.

Yes, the weather has been so very strange over the last year. This Winter we've had early record cold temps...then record heat... and then record flooding rains in Dec. The dams are spilling over this year for the first time in many years...the drought and water restrictions are officially over. YAY! :>)
