Very pretty love persicaria, my Dad gave me a piece of one years ago 'Firetail' and bought 3 others from Malvern a couple of years ago, great for late colour:-)

Have you seen the new ones? P.amplex 'J.S.Caliente' red/orange, & P. amplex. 'Orange Field' salmon/rose. I like both! "oh heavens here I go again."

I hadn't but just googled them agree both are lovely, I have Neofiliformis that has variegated foliage, bought it from Malvern a couple of years ago and Red Dragon kindly sent to me by a GOY member last year.

I'd never heard of either, but googled them, wow! The foliage is gorgeous.

Thanks Paul. I cut it back a couple of weeks ago as it just looked very straggley, hopefully it will start sprouting soon!

hopefully for you yes - are they water lovers ?

Seem to be Paul, our soil is heavy and never really dries out, partly due to the high rainfall we have here! I have another one, that looks very similar to Persicaria 'Firetail' which, is in an even wetter part of the garden that gets waterlogged especially in winter, but it just keeps coming back every year.

My garden is quite opposite - dries in half hour on sunny day - I had to add a whole bag of vermiculite and dig soil into a big dip so lots of water runs into it - most people would probably buy suited plants to a fast drying garden - but I buy heavy drinkers :D

I bet your arms ache with the wattering cans, when there's a hosepipe ban! LOL! Looks like we're the opposite Paul, I'd like the water to run out of our garden, I've never had to water it!

gracious a swap I think lol - I like drainage everywhere else - the grass used to get waterlogged a lot so it was flooding - added a middle tree and a few corners with plants too stopped it

Glad that worked for you Paul, it's a real nuisance flooding. I'd need a small forest in this garden Paul! LOL! Did you see the pics of the flooding on one of my blogs?
