one of my favorites!

I have this planted just behind(or in front of, depending on which side of the border you're standing) Actaea simplex 'Brunette' which has very dark leaves. It makes the flower colour stand out, you just cant fail to see it!

I wasn't familiar with Actaea simplex so I looked it up - very attractive plant, although I have no luck with Actaea here. I have tried to grow our native actaeas but have failed, I suspect it's ultimately too hot here even though they are native to GA.

Here where the heat is nowhere near the temps that you have in GA, the dark foliage Actaea prefer some shade. There is one called, A.matsurumae 'White Pearl' (green foliage) apparently grows in any soil, but I've never grown it, so I couldn't say for sure it does. Have you seen Diggingdog nursery online?

I have briefly looked at Digging Dog's offerings but never ordered - there are just too many online nurseries and not enough cash in the bank. It's worth a second, deeper perusal, though.

Enough to bring sunshine in the garden and in our life as well.

Lovely words Camillia, and very true!

The other day I was at Home Depot buying topsoil and I had a conversation about gardening with the cashier. We agreed that most material things one buys - unless it's something absolutely necessary - are just "stuff." A new chair will keep you happy for a few days or weeks and then it's just a chair. Whereas a garden has the potential to bring joy for a long, long time....especially in the spring when plants are emerging after a long cold winter and in the summer when things are in full bloom. I have never regretted spending money on my garden, except when I've lost plants due to my own negligence. I'm sure most GOYers feel the same way!!

Is'nt it nice when you can have a conversation with someone you don't know very well and find you have a lot in common. I totally agree with you about material things being "stuff". The things I treasure most, are my old Photographs. Also special are plants that have been given to me by people I know. Other material things are "stuff" to me too, and can be replaced. Thanks for reminding me of that Lauram!
