I love these but can't seem to keep them :-(

i havent done anything with mine ~ its quite free draining soil, but its been under 7 or 8 inches of snow. then suddenly it has popped up in the last week ~ flower is not open yet tho

Mine is definitely NOT free-draining. Perhaps I will try again with even more grit dug in - or in a trough.
