You can get a rhodo fertilizer, careful the dogs like to eat it. I would take a wait and see on it see if it puts out new leaves after it blooms. Some rhodos have quite sparse foilage anyway.

I think that Sarah is right about some rhodos having spars foliage. I see hundreds of them blooming here now on my way to and from work. Some have spars foliage and yet the blooms are gorgeous.
