Oncidium Orchid Flowers

This fragrant Oncidium orchid was blooming on a tree in the tropical rainforest area of the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Photo taken March 8, 2011.

I think that mine has two spikes forming! Should become clearer in a week or two.

This yellow variety is extremely common. It tends to start blooming in Oct./Nov. This one appears to be blooming late, although, I guess it can bloom anytime.

Epidendrum hybrid orchids are the only orchids which bloom profusely all year here.
My neighbor has many hundreds which are always in bloom.

Yes, many hundreds! They have a large sections planted along the property fences and in the front yard (most are in the ground, some are in pots, also). I'll get some pics soon. Here's some pics I posted a couple of years ago.

I think they bloom pretty quickly once they develop their spikes...that's my experience, anyway. :>)
