Yes, it is abnormally lightweight for a plate it's size. That was the first thing I noticed when I picked up. From the sound of it, maybe my $5 was a good deal. I think so, because I like it regardless of it's monetary value :) There is a tiny little chip in the paint and looks like it was made from terra cotta or some sort of orange-ish clay...
