Did you plant the gorse it is very effective colour wise not sure about the thorns

No Bjs, the gorse is what grows here if the ground is left. The garden has acres of it adjoining - hence all the rabbits! Most of the gorse is outside the rabbit fence, (to the right of the bench in the pic) There's a bit left inside as a windbreak on top of the hillocks - on the left of the bench.
