Warmer bamboo

Warmer bamboo

Here's some more bamboo in warmer times! Last summer my largest rose about 45ft in 28 days! Looking forward to this years' growth?!?! LOL

I have designed and built a small Japanes dry garden and will be using a bamboo screening fixed to the wall which I think will be a nice backdrop to the design. I love bamboo especially the Nigra variety, I think they are more controllable and would like to plant a couple in big pots for our deck area (when its finished) which looks onto the Japanese garden.

This particular view is looking towards a black-marbled variety, on the left in the background, but I suggest you broaden your bamboo horizons and check out other varieties which, IMO, are really worth seeking out.

Bamboo in patio pots is a good idea. Should you later decide to plant a variety in the garden I suggest planting it in a plastic dustbin first and then bury with the 'lip' just barely showing. You can then easily chop anything that comes over the edge. BTW Drainage holes in the bottom only.

Thanks, I will make note of that info
